If you love to travel, you have to accept the occasional long journey. Lengthy journeys get you further so you can see more of the world. At least if you’re not driving, you have time to occupy yourself with other things. However, while that seems like a good thing at first, it can lead to boredom very quickly. Fortunately, many of us now have a smartphone or tablet to occupy ourselves wherever we are. If you’re on a train, plane, or bus, or maybe just waiting around, you can have hundreds of apps at your fingertips. Make sure you have the following mobile apps for your next trip.

Reading Apps

Taking a good book on your travels has long been a good way to entertain yourself. But why take one or two books when you can take hundreds? With a reading app on your phone or tablet, you don’t have to limit your reading choices. Amazon’s Kindle app can be used on a range of devices, or you can get a Kindle e-reader if you want something with a long-lasting battery. You can also get magazine apps, in case you don’t feel like reading a novel or nonfiction book. If you prefer to listen, try Audible instead and download some audiobooks.

TV and Movie Apps

You can stay occupied for hours watching your favorite shows or the latest movies. If you start binge-watching a substantial series, it could have you watching for a hundred hours or even more. If you’re not in the mood to concentrate on reading, having something to watch can help you relax. You can choose from lots of movie and TV apps, ranging from Netflix to MovieBox. Some apps will require a good internet connection to use, whereas you can watch others in offline mode too. If you’re lucky, you might be able to access a wireless connection for streaming.

Games Apps

Games are great for entertaining yourself too, and they’re also excellent if you have kids with you. There are so many different types of games you can download onto your favorite device, from traditional to more modern ones. Whether you like chess, poker, crosswords, or Angry Birds and Candy Crush, you won’t get bored with a few game apps available to use. Some games are free, often with in-app purchases, but others will cost you to download.

Work Apps

Not all trips are for fun. If you’re traveling for business, you might want to get some work done on the way. You might as well use your time to be productive, instead of using it to watch movies or read. There are some excellent apps you can use to make your work more portable. For example, Google Drive makes it easier to access your files and documents from anywhere. Make sure you have your preferred email app available so you can receive any important communications while you’re on the road.

Before you go on your next trip, make sure you have all the mobile apps you need. It’s much harder to download what you want without a stable connection.
